Privacy Policy for SetCast

This Privacy Policy explains how SetCast – Workout Timer handles information when you use the app.

SetCast is designed as an offline-first workout timer. It does not require an account and does not use advertising, analytics, or tracking services.

1. Information We Collect

SetCast does not collect or transmit personal data to SetCast servers.

The app does not require:

2. Workout Data

Workouts you create, workout history, statistics, settings, and related app data are stored locally on your device.

This may include:

SetCast does not upload this information to servers operated by us.

Your Android device or Google account may independently back up application data if device backup is enabled. Such backups are controlled by Android, Google, and your device settings, not by SetCast.

3. Voice Guidance and Text-to-Speech

SetCast can provide spoken workout instructions.

SetCast includes an offline speech engine that can generate voice guidance directly on your device.

You may also choose to use the Android system text-to-speech engine. When system text-to-speech is used, processing is handled by the text-to-speech provider installed or selected on your device. Depending on that provider and its settings, its own privacy policy may apply.

SetCast does not send speech content to servers operated by us.

4. Audio, Visual and Haptic Cues

SetCast can use audio, visual, and vibration cues to guide you through a workout.

These functions are processed locally on your device.

The app may request permission to send notifications so that an active workout can remain visible while SetCast is running in the background.

5. Background Workout Service

During an active workout, SetCast may run a foreground service.

This allows workout guidance and audio cues to continue when SetCast is not currently visible on screen.

Android displays an ongoing notification while this service is active.

The foreground service is started as part of a workout initiated by the user and is not used for advertising, tracking, or background data collection.

6. Media Connect

SetCast includes an optional feature called Media Connect.

If you enable Media Connect, Android requires you to grant SetCast notification access.

SetCast uses this access to detect the playback state of active media sessions from compatible music, podcast, browser, and media apps.

For example, this allows SetCast to pause a workout when you pause your music using your headphones and resume the workout when playback continues.

SetCast uses this functionality to determine whether compatible external media is currently playing.

SetCast does not use this feature to collect or upload the content of your notifications, messages, emails, or other personal communications.

Media playback state is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to servers operated by us.

Media Connect is optional and SetCast can be used without enabling it.

7. Sharing Workouts

SetCast allows you to share workouts or completed workout results using Android’s system sharing functionality.

Sharing only occurs when you explicitly choose to share something.

When you select another application, such as a messaging or email app, the information you choose to share is passed to that application. The receiving application’s own privacy policy then applies.

SetCast does not automatically share workout information with third parties.

8. Permissions

Depending on the features you use, SetCast may use the following Android permissions or system access:

Notifications
Used to display information about an active workout.

Foreground service / media playback
Used to support workout guidance and audio while a workout is active in the background.

Vibration
Used for optional haptic workout cues.

Notification access
Optional. Used by Media Connect to detect the playback state of compatible media apps.

SetCast does not use these permissions for advertising or tracking.

9. Health and Fitness Information

SetCast is a fitness application that helps users perform and time workouts.

SetCast does not access Health Connect, medical records, heart rate, GPS activity data, fitness sensors, or other health databases.

Workout information entered into SetCast remains locally stored unless you explicitly share it using another application.

SetCast is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition.

10. Advertising and Analytics

SetCast does not contain advertisements.

SetCast does not use advertising identifiers.

SetCast does not currently use third-party analytics, behavioral tracking, or advertising profiling.

11. Internet and Cloud Services

SetCast is designed to work offline.

SetCast does not operate a cloud account system or upload your workouts to SetCast servers.

Some operating-system services that you choose to use, such as Android system text-to-speech, Google Play services, device backups, or applications used through the Android share sheet, may communicate with their respective providers independently of SetCast.

12. Children’s Privacy

SetCast is not specifically designed for children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users because SetCast does not operate a user account or personal-data collection service.

13. Data Retention and Deletion

Workout data, history, settings, and generated local files remain on your device until they are deleted through the app, cleared through Android’s app settings, or removed when the application is uninstalled, subject to any device backup mechanisms enabled by the user.

Because SetCast does not maintain user accounts or store this information on SetCast servers, we do not have access to your locally stored workout data.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when SetCast’s features or data practices change.

The current version will always be made available at the privacy policy URL listed on Google Play and within the app.
